PA- Another Pittsburgh predatory cleric is “outed” - SNAP responds

For immediate release: Thursday, June 19, 2014

Statement by David Clohessy of St. Louis, Director of SNAP, the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (314 566 9790, [email protected])

Another person has disclosed having been molested at a Pittsburgh Catholic school and we've learned the name of another credibly accused child molesting Catholic cleric.

That means that in just three months, nine clerics have been publicly accused of sexually assaulting Pittsburgh kids.

We are deeply grateful to every single former North Catholic student who has reported having been hurt by Marianist clerics there. Now, we hope that others who saw, suspected or hid this wrongdoing will speak up too.

It's possible that at least one or two of the school staff who committed or concealed crimes at North Catholic can be criminally charged, convicted and kept away from kids. It's possible that they might also be sued in civil cases or punished by church officials.

But only if those who have been so deeply hurt contact police and prosecutors, not church figures. And it's more likely only if those who knew of or suspected abuse also step forward.

We again urge Bishop David Zubek to use his massive resources to urge anyone who saw, suspected or suffered child sex crimes to come forward and report to police.

(SNAP, the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, is the world’s oldest and largest support group for clergy abuse victims. We’ve been around for 25 years and have more than 20,000 members. Despite the word “priest” in our title, we have members who were molested by religious figures of all denominations, including nuns, rabbis, bishops, and Protestant ministers. Our website is

As a 25-year-seasoned veteran of the cover-ups in the Pittsburgh Diocese it doesn’t surprise me that nine clerics of alleged sexual abuse have been outed in the last three months. For those unaware, PA was recently named the fifth most corrupt state in the union. Not a very favorable ranking for the average law-abiding citizen, but a very welcome relief for the Roman Coward Church because it has been so easy (perhaps too easy) to cover up crimes of dysfunctional catholic priests. The truth may be coming back to haunt church hierarchy.
At the helm of PA corruption is the Zappala Crime Family/Terrorist Group whose ancestry of the Sicilian mob goes back over a century. Meanwhile, the latter-day demons are criminal partners with the Pittsburgh Diocese. Allegheny County DA Stephen Zappala was appointed to the board of the Bishops Conference in June of 2010 that reviews clergy sex abuse cases. His father, former PA Chief Justice Stephen Zappala Sr. sits on Bishop David Zubiks diocesan review board that makes sure no clergy sex abuse cases ever make it to the courtroom. His son Gregory, brother of Stephen Jr. is the owner of the juvenile detention centers made famous by the Luzerne County scandal known as Cash for Kids.
As I’ve always predicted, the evil world of Donald"The Lavendar Don" Wuerl would some day come crashing down. I think we’re very close.
