SNAP Call for Action to Support California Assembly Bill 2295

SNAP Call for Action to Support California AB 2295

Elimination of Statute of Limitations for Child Sex Abuse Crimes

Request for Emails and Letters to California Assembly Members on the Public Safety Committee

AB 2295, authored by Assembly Member Dawn Addis, will likely have its first policy hearing in the Assembly Public Safety Committee in late March. We need to write letters to the Committee Members NOW urging their Yes vote on this bill!

What AB 2295 would do? Enacting AB 2295 would eliminate the statute of limitations barrier to criminal cases being brought against perpetrators of child sexual assault going forward. This will allow child victims to seek justice, get these perpetrators off the streets, and thereby prevent more child sexual assaults. It will also create a public record of these offenders so churches, youth organizations, and communities can take the appropriate steps to prevent their access to children.

Please send your letters to the Public Safety Committee online so your letter will be in the record. The directions for submitting a letter are below.  Please send us a copy of your letter as well.

In addition, if you are in the district of one of the Public Safety Committee Members, please call/email the legislator that represents you and let them know you support this bill. You can verify your representatives and find their contact information here.

Address your letter to the Committee Chair, Assembly Member Kevin McCarty.

Please send a copy of your letter to us at: [email protected]

You can find a fact sheet about AB 2295 here.
