About the Conference

2018 Annual SNAP Conference

July 6-8

Chicago, Illinois.

SNAP was founded in 1988 as a self-help support group for those who were sexually violated. This summer we celebrate our 30th year supporting survivors, protecting children and raising community awareness through education and advocacy.

If this is your first meeting with SNAP, we applaud your courage. Please know that we appreciate your presence and respect your privacy. Don’t hesitate to ask if you have questions or concerns. You will be joining hundreds of survivors like you, we may not have all the answers, but we can share our experiences.

We encourage those who have attended previously to reach out to the other conference attendees and make everyone feel welcome and included.

Need someone to talk to? All weekend long, trained supporters and peer counselors will be available to speak one-on-one. This is an opportunity to privately discuss personal, abuse-related issues, ask questions or seek support. Please visit the quiet room any time.

Has the Program been completed for July. I would be interested in the Plenary speaker and featured speakers. I received an email from Tim Lennon who said he was going to send me the Agenda within days, unfortunately that was 3 weeks ago. Can you give me an update. I have also booked my flight, hotel and conference reservation, and am committed to SNAP, but it would be helpful if you responded with the conference Agenda. I would like to be prepared for an effective conference. Thank you

I just wish you would divide conferences on 4 parts of the US so those of us who have little money could participate. And if you had more time to answers victims calls and need for communication

Winter Appeal 2023

To our friends,

2023 has been a long year with many ups and downs for us all. As we close out the year, we at SNAP hope that you are feeling like you are on your way to being healthy, fulfilled, and happy. This past year has brought both successes and challenges. Thanks to the support you have shown in the past, we’ve been able to celebrate the good days and weather the stormy ones. Now, we are once again asking for your support as we work to support survivors new and old as we ‘Move SNAP Forward.’

At SNAP we are proud to have hosted a very well-attended conference in August 2023. This event allowed us to gather friends, survivors, advocates, and allies for a weekend of camaraderie and connection. We were so happy to be able to welcome many first-time attendees to gather in person and are already looking forward to the next conference.

To strengthen our movement for justice, healing, and prevention, SNAP will be expanding our peer support and providing more volunteer opportunities in the coming year. Through this great work, we are ensuring survivor voices are represented as we work for significant change that will benefit children and survivors.

Right now, survivors worldwide are getting the help they need from SNAP, and more and more reach out to us daily, but we need your help to keep those programs going and get our volunteers the training they need to thrive.
