Two Lawsuits Filed Against the Diocese of Charlotte, SNAP Responds

Two new child sexual abuse and cover-up lawsuits have been filed against the Diocese of Charlotte, NC. We applaud these brave survivors for coming forward and sharing their stories and hope they are able to find justice and healing.

The priests named in these new lawsuits are Fr. Richard Falwell and Fr. Joseph Kelleher. Both priests were included on the list of accused clerics that Catholic officials in Charlotte released last year.

If the Diocese was truly committed “to providing a safe environment for all people” as their statement says, they should do everything they can to publicize the allegations and encourage other victims and witnesses to come forward. We call on Bishop Peter Jugis and his colleagues in Charlotte to pull out all the stops and use every resource at their disposal to share the information, bring others forward and encourage them to make a report to police.
