Two Priests who Abused Deaf Children in Argentina Sentenced to More than 40 Years in Prison

Two priests who were accused of abusing multiple students while working at a school for the deaf and hearing impaired have been sentenced to more than 40 years in prison. We applaud this sentence and hope that it encourages other survivors in Argentina to come forward and get help.

Now that Fr. Nicola Corradi and Fr. Horacio Corbacho have been sentenced, we call on church officials in Argentina to take steps to publicize the information and urge others who were hurt by these men or suspected their crimes to come forward and make a report to police. Especially since at least one of the men, Fr. Corradi, had been previously accused of abuse.

This case is an example of why we always call on church officials to not only post the names of priests accused of abuse, but other church staff as well. In this case, a gardener and a nun were also involved in the abuse and cover-up that took place at the school. We hope that this case will encourage parishioners and the public to demand that all church staff who have been accused of abuse are named, not just priests.
