SNAP Press Statement

Statement on New Criminal Probe into
Catholic Bishop and Officials in Santa Rosa Diocese

July 14, 2006

Statement by Mary Grant of Long Beach, SNAP Western Regional Director (626) 419-2930 cell

We welcome this step and desperately hope that current and former church employees find the courage to speak up.

We believe that others in the church, both volunteers and staff, have information that should be given to law enforcement, about the inexcusable delays by Bishop Walsh and the horrific crimes by Fr. Ochoa.

Victims may have been intimidated, witness threatened and evidence may have been destroyed over the past few weeks. So, it's more important than ever that citizens and Catholics honor their moral and civil duty by speaking up.
