The road toward recovery and justice has been so long, rocky and uncertain for these brave survivors. They still have a way to go, but have made tremendous progress today.

Money never makes any victim whole, nor does it restore stolen childhoods. But it can be very healing to know that through your courage and perseverence, you've held wrongdoers accountable.

So many have been so severely and so needlessly hurt by Pritchard and other San Francisco Catholic predators. We hope they will find some consolation and closure in this jury verdict.

Juries award substantial compensation when they think substantial harm has been done, and that's clearly the case here.

To those who might balk at these figures, I'd simply ask "Would you let someone rape your child for a million dollars?"
