Statement Regarding Child Porn Plea of
Priest at St. Louis Treatment Facility

February 28, 2005

Statement by David Clohessy of St. Louis (314) 566-9790 cell
National Director of SNAP

. . . . on the child porn plea of Fr. David Malsch, who's at a church-run center for abusive priests just outside St. Louis. He faces a jail term of between five and 20 years and a June 10th sentencing date.

"Malsch is among dozens and dozens of admitted, proven and credibly accused priests from across the country who have been allowed to quietly move here under Archbishop Burke and his predecessors. He is an admitted serial child molester and a dangerous man staying in comfortable but secretive church-financed retreat-style setting allegedly being watched by his brother priests. It's a recipe that's ripe for disaster."

"We believe that families and children near RECON are not safe. They will be safe when like Malsch are in prison, not in church-affiliated 'country clubs.'"
