Group Echo Calls for Rush to Resign

Demonstration will be Held Outside the Inspiring Body of Christ Church on Sunday, Oct 4 Beginning at 7:30 AM; Press Conference at 9:30 AM

WHAT: Holding signs at a sidewalk press conference, survivors and advocates will:

  • stand in solidarity with the survivors of Pastor Rush,
  • Echo their calls for Pastor Rush to step down while the allegations are investigated by the police, and
  • Encourage other survivors to come forward to find help and healing.

WHO: Survivors of clergy sexual abuse and advocates who belong to a group called SNAP, the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests will join with survivors of abuse by Pastor Rush and other concerned citizens. All present will be wearing masks.

WHEN: Demonstrators will be present between 7:30 AM and 11:30 AM, with an official press conference beginning at 9:30 am.

WHERE: On the sidewalks outside The Inspiring Body of Christ in Dallas, Texas at 7701 S Westmoreland Rd, Dallas, TX 75237. Demonstrators will be standing on the public sidewalk at the S. Westmoreland Rd. entrance to IBOC, at the corner of S. Westmoreland Rd. and Glenlyon where the press conference will be held. There will also be demonstrators at the S. Cockrell Hill Rd. entrance to IBOC.

WHY: Earlier this week, eight women protested outside a church in Dallas, calling on an allegedly abusive pastor to resign. We believe these survivors and stand with them as they fight for recognition, justice, and prevention. At this demonstration, SNAP will echo the calls for Pastor Rush to step down during the police investigation and will encourage other survivors, no matter where or when they were hurt, to come forward and make a report to law enforcement. We as SNAP are also here for them to reach out to us for support and healing and welcome any survivor who would like to join our local support group, currently a virtual meeting due to COVID-19.
