As of September, 2022, the Archdiocese of San Francisco remains one of the few remaining Roman Catholic institutions in the United States that have refused to release a list of "credibly accused" sexual abusers. They are also by far the largest diocese or archdiocese to refuse to take this simple step, first taken by an American bishop in 2002.
In the face of their inaction, SNAP has decided to release a list for them.
On this page, you will find the list of 312 accused priests as well as an executive summary of the data included. Additionally, we are including a more detailed explanation of the methodology used to generate the list, and a brief guide on how to read the complete list. We are also including copies of letters we have sent to the Archdiocese of San Francisco regarding the release of this list and will post any response we receive from church officials in the Bay Area.
