PA - House arrest for convicted Philly Catholic official? SNAP responds

We believe Msgr. Lynn being behind bars is just, and helps end current cover ups and deter future ones, both inside and outside the church.

Before making a decision next week about his fate, we hope the judge does thorough research into the hundreds of predator priests who've crossed or been sent across national boundaries. We hope she bases her ruling on the past behavior - not future promises - of Catholic officials.

We're less concerned about the short term and more concerned about the long term. What we really want is for Lynn to get the maximum sentence and for prosecutors to retry Fr. Brennan and pursue other charges against other complicit staff in the hierarchy. That's the best way, we feel, to protect the vulnerable, heal the wounded and expose the truth.

In my opinion Lynn is a very high flight risk, particularly in the direction of the Vatican, which I don’t believe for a moment would extradite him back to the USA if Lynn ever reached their sacred 110 square acres of land. I’d like to remind all of the Vatican’s past reputation for helping the worst war-time criminals to escape! After WWII the Vatican was famous for “The Ratline,” also known by the CIA as “Operation Odessa!” The Vatican was directly responsible for spiriting Nazi and Fascist leaders like Ante Pavelic, the Butcher of Yugoslavia, out of Europe and into South America. The Ratline was well-greased with Nazi Gold. I would like to quote from Wikipedia on the Ratline: "[Bishop] Hudal used this position to aid the escape of wanted Nazi war criminals, including Franz Stangl, commanding officer of Treblinka, Gustav Wagner, commanding officer of Sobibor, Alois Brunner, responsible for the Drancy internment camp near Paris and in charge of deportations in Slovakia to German concentration camps, and Adolf Eichmann10 If the Vatican could get the biggest Nazi criminals out of Europe after WWII, getting Monsignor Lynn out of Philly would be a piece of cake, ankle-bracelet and all! The Vatican learned a lot during her “Ratline Days,” and I’m sure that someone is still around, who remembers how things were done!

As a priest AND victim of clergy sexual abuse I have lived the past 40+ years carrying the shame, embarassment, guilt, depression, PTSD, anger etc of my rape. There has been no “house arrest” of these afflicitons — no “luxury” afforded myself, or any other victim. Why, then, would an enabler of abusive priests be granted such a luxury? Any other average Joe-citizen who was convicted of the same crime would NOT be granted house arrest. People incarcerated with terminal illnesses are IN JAIL and released ONLY for their final days/hours. Lynn belongs in jail!
