Mike McVey is the new principal at River Elementary. We hope parents, staff and taxpayers will protest this reckless move.

Why take this risk? Are there so few principal candidates that Switzerland school officials feel they must roll the dice and hire a discredited individual like McVey to oversee children.

No one argues that he should go hungry or be homeless. But hasn't he forfeited the right to be around kids and over kids? Why gamble with the safety of our precious children? How will Switzerland school board members feel if a scandal erupts at River Elementary School like the one in Steubenville city schools?

(SNAP, the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, is the  world's oldest and largest support group for clergy abuse victims. SNAP was founded in 1988 and has more than 20,000 members. Despite the word "priest" in our title, we have members who were molested by religious figures of all denominations, including nuns, rabbis, bishops, Protestant ministers, teachers, and increasingly, victims who were assaulted in a wide range of institutional settings like summer camps, athletic programs, Boy Scouts, etc Our website is SNAPnetwork.org)
