Statement by David Clohessy of St. Louis, Director of SNAP, the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (314 566 9790, [email protected])
A Minnesota children’s pastor has been arrested for allegedly soliciting a minor. We are extremely concerned that a man entrusted by his community to lead children in their faith has been arrested for allegedly sexually soliciting a child.

Matthew Boos was the youth pastor of River Valley Church in Savage, MN. He had access to hundreds of children for years. The head pastor of River Valley insisted that the minor Boos solicited was not a member of that church. Research shows that the average predator has dozens of victims. We fear others may be trapped in silence, shame and self blame.
We hope that this was an isolated incidence and we hope that River Valley Church officials will do all they can to ensure that no other children have been harmed. Anyone who saw, suspects or suffered child sexual crimes should immediately call police.
(SNAP, the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, is the world’s oldest and largest support group for clergy abuse victims. We’ve been around for 25 years and have more than 15,000 members. Despite the word “priest” in our title, we have members who were molested by religious figures of all denominations, including nuns, rabbis, bishops, and Protestant ministers.
