Ireland- Prolific predator released from prison, SNAP responds
For immediate release: Friday, May 2, 2014
Statement by Joelle Casteix, Southern California Director of SNAP, the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (949-322-7434, [email protected])
One of the most dangerous predator priests in history has been released from prison early. We are deeply upset about his release and hope Catholic officials will do all they can to alert unsuspecting parents that he is free.

Oliver O’Grady abused boys and girls in California for years and was sent to jail in Ireland for child porn charges. We had hoped he would be behind bars for the rest of his life.
We urge Irish Catholic employees to use every means possible to warn families about this man and to widely circulate his photo so that parents can keep their kids away from him.
And we urge Irish citizens to demand answers from penal authorities about why they gave this serial child molester special treatment and enabled him to evade journalists as he left prison. The public is owed an apology and an explanation for this callous move.
(SNAP, the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, is the world’s oldest and largest support group for clergy abuse victims. We’ve been around for 25 years and have more than 15,000 members. Despite the word “priest” in our title, we have members who were molested by religious figures of all denominations, including nuns, rabbis, bishops, and Protestant ministers. Our website is SNAPnetwork.org)
