IL--Abuse settlements will "keep trickling in
Statement by David Clohessy of SNAP (314 566 9790, [email protected])
Another abuse and cover-up lawsuit against Chicago Catholic official has been settled.
Because the archdiocese refuses to do real outreach to victims, parishioners may be seeing lawsuits involving Fr. Daniel McCormick for years and years to come. Since the church hierarchy won’t act responsibility - and instead chooses to sit back passively - we beg church goers at each parish where predator priests work to aggressively seek out anyone who might have been molested and urge them to call police if they were hurt.
(SNAP, the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, is the world’s oldest and largest support group for clergy abuse victims. SNAP was founded in 1988 and has more than 20,000 members. Despite the word “priest” in our title, we have members who were molested by religious figures of all denominations, including nuns, rabbis, bishops, and Protestant ministers. Our website is SNAPnetwork.org)

If the clergy won’t do their job, outreach to victims, then the laity will have to. If the laity do the outreach to victims then they will win God’s good pleasure for being real Christians, real human beings.
