This year, on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, SNAP will be participating in #GivingTuesday, a global day dedication to giving. On #GivingTuesday 2016, $180+ million was raised online in the United States alone to benefit a tremendously broad range of causes, and much more was given in volunteer hours, non-monetary donations, and acts of kindness. This kind of philanthropic giving fuels real social change within our communities.
Last year, SNAP mobilized over 100 supporters to help us raise over $15,000. We reached above and beyond our goal because our supporters came together on one day to help spread our message. Our goal this year is to get 200 donations in just one day! So once again, we invite all of SNAP's leaders, supporters, friends and allies to join the movement and to get out and give this Tuesday.
On #GivingTuesday, Facebook and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will be matching up to $2 million of funds raised for US nonprofits through Facebook's charitable giving tools. Donations can be matched up to $50,000 per nonprofit, with a max of $1,000 per fundraiser or donate button, until the $2 million in matching funds run out. The match will begin November, 28th at 8AM EST (5AM PST). And, Facebook is waiving all fees for donations to nonprofits on #GivingTuesday.
