US - Lawsuit filed against Moose Intl CEO, SNAP responds
We applaud Jason Peck who is filing a child sex abuse lawsuit against the head of a huge non-profit called Moose International.
It's very hard for any child sex abuse victim to speak up. It's especially hard when you are the first to accuse a powerful, high profile individual. But we're confident that Jason’s' courage will help him heal and will help protect others.
We're not aware of other child sex abuse cases within Moose International or against other Moose officials. But since the organizations deals with youngsters, and its head is now accused of molesting, we can't help but wonder how reports of child sex crimes by Moose staff or in Moose programs are dealt with.
We hope that anyone who may have seen suspected or suffered child sex crimes by Mr. Airey will come forward, get help, expose wrongdoing, protect others and start healing. We hope the board of the organization will suspend Mr. Airey until this case is resolved.
A copy of the lawsuit is available here.
50 State AG Call for Grand Jury
Any investigation must be:
- independent of and separate from the church
- must have subpoena powers and ability to compel testimony under oath
Anything short of these criteria is a sham and whitewash.
In addition, write letters to the editor, make phone calls to politicians as they can apply pressure to keep them responsive to our demand. We need to make efforts to ensure that they follow up on what the state is doing to investigate these crimes.
Note to Letter Writers
Use your own words and style of writing. Cut and paste from the templates as you wish. Include your experiences, whether as a survivor or as a member of the community. And relate your letter to the state you were abused in or state now living in.
