Removed Colorado Priest Had Another Misconduct Allegation; SNAP responds

Statement by Barbara Dorris, Outreach Director for SNAP 314- 862-7688

We are grateful to this courageous man for coming forward. Research, history and experience tell us that rarely, if ever, does a predator only molest once. We fear that others have been harmed by Father Mel Thompson and are trapped in silence, guilt and shame.

We hope that anyone who has been harmed by a member of the clergy will come forward and get the help they deserve. We also encourage anyone who has seen or suspected misdeeds by Thompson to contact law enforcement.

SNAP, Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, is the world’s largest and oldest support group for victims of clergy sexual abuse. Founded in 1988, SNAP has over 9,000 members.
