The Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests

SNAP Press Statement

April 17, 2008

This morning, the pope asked Catholics to help us in our healing.

Statement by Phil Saviano of Boston, SNAP New England Founder (617 983 5075)

Catholics supporting wounded victims is good. Catholics preventing future abuse is better. They can best be helpful by helping to reform predator-friendly laws, demanding truth and transparency from church officials, and by calling law enforcement with any suspicions of possible abuse.

(SNAP, the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, is the nation’s oldest and largest support group for clergy abuse victims. We’ve been around for 17 years and have more than 8,000 members across the country. Despite the word “priest” in our title, we have members who were molested by religious figures of all denominations, including nuns, rabbis, bishops, and Protestant ministers. Our website is SNAPnetwork.org)
