SNAP Press Statement

On Remarks by Pope Regarding Clergy Abuse Problem

For immediate release:
Saturday, October 28, 2006

Statement by Peter Isely, board chairman of SNAP, cell 414-429-7259
Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests

The Pope is merely acknowledging what millions of Catholics have known for years: clergy sex abuse leaves devastating scars. Actions speak louder than words. Acknowledging wounds and condemning abuse is meaningless until bishops who are responsible for horrific child sex crimes are disciplined or ousted. Until then nothing will change.
