Predator priest expected to plead today

An accused child molesting cleric, Fr. William Casey, is expected to plead guilty to "crimes against nature" today, in the morning in the courthouse in Marion NC. (according to McDowell County NC district attorney) He will then walk out of court as a convicted felon, serve no prison time but be on probation for two years.

Also in court will be one of Casey’s victims, Warren Tucker, and several members of a support group called SNAP, the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, SNAPnetwork.org

Casey worked until just a few months ago in the Knoxville Catholic diocese.

An independent Boston-based research group BishopAccountability.org, provides a data base of proven, admitted and credibly accused child molesting clerics. Here is their summary about Casey:

“Retired. Permanently removed 4/10 by Knoxville Bishop after man filed criminal complaint in NC (which has no SOL issues). Man alleged that Casey abused him for 5 yrs beginning in 5th grade in 1975. Casey worked at St. Dominic's church in Kingsport at the time; accuser said abuse also occurred during trip to NC. Knoxville was part of Nashville Diocese at time. Casey has admitted that allegation has credibility. Arrested 4/19/10 on NC charges.”
