Statement by David Clohessy of St. Louis, Director of SNAP, the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests(314 566 9790, [email protected]om)

An ex-pastor from South Dakota has been arrested and had his bond set in a child sexual abuse case. We are grateful to the victim who came forward in this case.l

Timothy Thompson was the pastor at Cornerstone Community Church in Mobridge, SD and then moved to Colorado. The alleged abuse happened on SD.

We are grateful to the brave victim and their family for alerting authorities. We urge officials at Cornerstone Community Church to immediately alert parishioners and beg anyone who saw suspects, or suffers abuse to come forward, report to police, help protect children, and start healing.

(SNAP, the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, is the world’s oldest and largest support group for clergy abuse victims. We’ve been around for 25 years and have more than 20,000 members. Despite the word “priest” in our title, we have members who were molested by religious figures of all denominations, including nuns, rabbis, bishops, and Protestant ministers. Our website is SNAPnetwork.org)
