Description: A joint statement by the Eastern Mennonite Board of Missions and the Board of Bishops of Lancaster Mennonite Conference in 1993 announced that Landis's ministerial and bishop credentials would be suspended over sexual misconduct described as "unprofessional and inappropriate behavior" toward women. 

Church-related positions held: Early leader in Mennonite Voluntary Service and Mennonite Central Committee. Ordained in 1958, became secretary and bishop on Lancaster Board of Bishops in 1962. Served as president of Eastern Mennonite Board of Missions from app. 1980-1993.
