PA- Disgraced Penn State president is highest paid public university exec; SNAP responds
Pennsylvania parents and taxpayers should be outraged over Graham Spanier’s pay package. At the very least, he mishandled credible child sex abuse reports. More likely, he enabled heinous child sex crimes. Yet he’s America’s highest paid university president.
This rubs salt into the already-deep and often still-fresh wounds, not just of Sandusky victims but of child sex abuse victims.
Those who commit and conceal child sex crimes should be severely punished. The former sometimes are. The latter rarely are.
The next time people ask “Why do many abuse victims stay silent about abuse?” and “Why don’t victims call the police?” Remember Spanier’s pay. Many victims keep quiet because they suspect wrongdoers will come out unscathed. Cases like this confirm these troubling and crippling suspicions.

- independent of and separate from the church
- must have subpoena powers and ability to compel testimony under oath
Anything short of these criteria is a sham and whitewash.
In addition, write letters to the editor, make phone calls to politicians as they can apply pressure to keep them responsive to our demand. We need to make efforts to ensure that they follow up on what the state is doing to investigate these crimes.
The Attorneys General of forty states have inquired about the grand jury process in Pennsylvania. Let's get statewide investigations going in fifty states.
