Greensburg Priest Charged with Sexual Abuse is 54th Cleric since 2018 Grand Jury Report to be Outed as a Perpetrator

A Catholic priest from the Diocese of Greensburg was arrested and charged for sexually assaulting an altar boy in 2004, making him the 54th priest since the 2018 Pennsylvania Grand Jury Report to be outed as an abuser. These revelations would never have happened if it were not for the work done by A.G. Josh Shapiro. We call on attorneys general in every other state to follow in his footsteps and make tangible progress towards keeping children and vulnerable adults safer.


Priest Convicted of Theft Also a Credible Child Abuser According to Diocese of Greensburg

A priest from the Diocese of Greensburg who was previously convicted of theft is also a “credibly accused” child abuser, according to church officials. We call on Bishop Edward Malesic to personally visit each parish where this priest worked, urging others who may have been hurt by him to come forward to local law enforcement.


Diocese of Columbus Settles Lawsuit, SNAP Calls for Outreach

The Catholic Diocese of Columbus has settled a lawsuit with a victim of clergy sexual abuse and we now call on church officials to update their list of accused priests. The Diocese should also share the news widely and encourage others who may have been hurt to come forward and make a report to law enforcement.

First, a reminder: everyone who reports sexual violence deserves privacy. This man who is suing today is in prison for theft. He’s clearly done wrong. Still, every alleged victim of child sexual abuse deserves privacy and protection, even or maybe especially one who’s locked up.


San Antonio Archdiocese and Catholic Charities Get Huge Payments Intended for Covid-19 relief for Small Businesses

The Catholic Church lobbied for 1.4 billion dollars of taxpayer money that was intended for Covid-19 relief for small businesses. The San Antonio Archdiocese and the San Antonio Catholic Charities each received these Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) funds in the “1-2 million-dollar range.” In addition, “Gustavo Garcia-Siller Archbishop of San Antonio and his successors in office,” is listed three times as receiving funds in the range of 150,000 to 350,000 from the Small Business Administration. These statistics are easily found through ProPublica’s search tool.
