Another brave adult has forced Catholic officials to admit wrongdoing in a child sex abuse and cover up case. Though we're very saddened by her suffering, we are also deeply proud of and grateful to Jerri Hubbard for having the courage to disclose her pain and expose church wrongdoers.

PA--Ex Pittsburgh Catholic cleric sentenced for sex crimes

A Catholic cleric, who worked in Pittsburgh, has been convicted in Australia of a string of sex offenses.

He is Marianist Brother Bernard Joseph Hartman who taught for more than a decade (1986-97) at former North Catholic High School in Pittsburgh. His church supervisors learned of Australian allegations in 1997 and sent him for treatment and reassigned to ministry.

We're glad that four boys are being charged in a bullying case at a Chicago Catholic school. But we're disturbed that for more than a month, no one reported the alleged crime to police.

This Sunday marks the 700th consecutive vigil held outside the Cathedral in Boston by an amazing group of caring individuals.

That’s no typo. They’ve been out there for 700 Sundays in a row.  


WI--Milwaukee Federal judge Lynn Adelman offers to mediate church bankruptcy

Survivors of rape and sexual assault by clergy of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee today are grateful that Milwaukee Federal Judge Lynn Adelman, in an unusual impromptu hearing today, has directly offered to mediate the deteriorating four year old Milwaukee Archdiocese bankruptcy case involving some 575 victim cases.     


NY--Syracuse bishop will keep hiding predators

OH--New state Supreme Court ruling

We are grateful for the court’s ruling that gives those victimized in state institutions more time. For decades, Ohio archaic, predator friendly statute of limitations have protected both those who commit and conceal child sex crimes. This is a belated but welcome step forward.
