For first time ever, US bishop indicted for endangering kids

This is a good start. We believe others on the church payroll also concealed crimes, misled parishioners and endangered kids. They too should face consequences.

These guys have the best lawyers money can buy. They’ll exploit all their political clout and connections and take advantage of every possible technicality they can find and every ounce of influence they can possibly muster. So no one should get complacent now. It’s still important for every single person who knows anything about clergy sex crimes and cover ups in Kansas City to call police and prosecutors.

We are grateful to every person who shared information with the grand jury. At the same time, however, we believe there are still dozens of other current and former church employees who could and should step forward with their information about clergy sex crimes and cover ups.

(SNAP, the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, is the nation’s oldest and largest support group for clergy abuse victims. We’ve been around for 21 years and have more than 9,000 members across the country. Despite the word “priest” in our title, we have members who were molested by religious figures of all denominations, including nuns, rabbis, bishops, and Protestant ministers. Our website is SNAPnetwork.org)

Hopefully, this is just a start of the criminal process for the higharchy of the Roman Catholic Church. They (the RCC) teach us that Jesus cared most about the children and that the family (mother, father & children) is the backbone of the church, yet they have destroyed hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of childrens lives and torn their families apart. When are the masses sitting in the pews going to protest in the streets or walk with their feet out the door and stop sitting like sheep with no ability to think for themselves. You just have to read the news reports that are coming out all over the world to see that those in control of the church are betraying and criminalizing the Roman Catholic Church. If the people truly are the church, then they are the ones responsible for continuing this horrific situation or doing something to change it. Thank you to all of those who are taking action.

Congratulations to you and county prosecutor Peters. Many bishops should become nervous such as Arlington VA Bishop Loverde who removed Fr. Haley 10 yrs ago after he reported child porn on rectory computers.

Where do “these guys” get the money for best lawyers? One thing people could do is not support the Catholic church and yet people continue to do so (and a lot). If something like this happened for example at McDonalds it would be less than a year before all the McD’s would be out of business. Do snap members continue to support the church financially?

Finally, the line has been crossed! All Roman Catholic bishops in the USA are now looking over their shoulder! Survivors, rejoice! Your courage is directly responsible for this new level of justice and accountability.
