FL - Notorious priest to be sentenced, SNAP responds
A notorious Miami predator priest will be sentenced today for abuse charges.
We hope Fr. Neil Doherty gets the maximum sentence and is kept away from kids forever. Given Fr. Doherty’s long list of accusers and the startling allegations against him – including that he would use drugs to incapacitate and abuse his victims – we are certain that Miami kids will be safer when Fr. Doherty is behind bars.
Due to the nature of childhood sex abuse and the fact that many victims are unable to come forward until they are older, this case is a very big deal for all those who were hurt by Doherty but were unable to see criminal charges brought against him. We are grateful to the brave victim who came forward in this case, and we hope that his courage inspires others. We also hope that this case inspires lawmakers nationwide to take a deep look at the archaic, predator friendly statute of limitations and take steps to reform them.

50 State AG Call for Grand Jury
Any investigation must be:
- independent of and separate from the church
- must have subpoena powers and ability to compel testimony under oath
Anything short of these criteria is a sham and whitewash.
In addition, write letters to the editor, make phone calls to politicians as they can apply pressure to keep them responsive to our demand. We need to make efforts to ensure that they follow up on what the state is doing to investigate these crimes.
The Attorneys General of forty states have inquired about the grand jury process in Pennsylvania. Let's get statewide investigations going in fifty states.
Note to Letter Writers
Use your own words and style of writing. Cut and paste from the templates as you wish. Include your experiences, whether as a survivor or as a member of the community. And relate your letter to the state you were abused in or state now living in.
