FL- Dozens of Disney & other theme park workers arrested for child sex crimes

Statement by David Clohessy of St. Louis, Director of SNAP, the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (314 566 9790, SNAPclohessy@aol.com)

A CNN investigation shows that since 2006, 35 Disney employees have been arrested, and 32 have been convicted, on child sex charges. This is a deeply disturbing revelation.

The most recent arrest is Robert Kingsolver, who was arrested after a police operation in which Kingsolver made arrangements to meet a 14 year old for sex. According to reports, none of the alleged abuse from Kingsolver or the other 34 arrests involve cases of child sexual abuse on Disney property.

We are concerned that there are many victims suffering in silence and self blame, who have not yet come forward.

We urge Disney officials to explain, specifically, how this happened and what they're doing to prevent it in the future. Vague reassurances about children's safety being a priority don't cut it.

We beg anyone who saw, suspects or suffered child sex crimes at a Disney park or by a Disney employee to immediately call law enforcement and start healing.

(SNAP, the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, is the world’s oldest and largest support group for clergy abuse victims. We’ve been around for 25 years and have more than 20,000 members. Despite the word “priest” in our title, we have members who were molested by religious figures of all denominations, including nuns, rabbis, bishops, and Protestant ministers. Our website is SNAPnetwork.org)
