A priest who molested kids in Hartford is now teaching school in Africa, a newspaper reports. Hartford Archbishop Leonard Blair should launch an aggressive outreach effort so the priest might be prosecuted and imprisoned.

After nearly a quarter of a century on the lam,” Fr. Arthur J. Perrault “has turned up in Morocco, working at an English-language school for children, according to the Albuquerque Journal and an Albuquerque attorney said.
Fr. Perrault left Connecticut in 1967 – to spend time at a church center for pedophile priests - and fled New Mexico in 1992. He faces allegations of sexually assaulting kids in both places and has been sued at least five times, once by Elaine Montoya of New Mexico who said he abused her more than 300 times.

We applaud both Elaine Montoya and Kenneth Wolter, who is suing Perrault now, for his courage and compassion. When victims take legal action, those who commit or conceal child sex crimes are exposed and often suspended or
We desperately hope this school fires Perrault and aggressively reaches out to anyone he hurt there.
Bishops in Connecticut and New Mexico should use church bulletins, parish websites and pulpit announcements to beg anyone with information or suspicions about Fr. Perrault to call law enforcement. We believe it’s possible he could still be charged, convicted and kept away from kids.
No matter what courts or church officials do or don’t do, we urge every single person who saw, suspected or suffered child sex crimes and cover ups in Connecticut Catholic churches or institutions to protect kids by calling police, get help by calling therapists, expose wrongdoers by calling law enforcement, get justice by calling attorneys, and be comforted by calling support groups like ours. This is how kids will be safer, adults will recover, criminals will be prosecuted, cover ups will be deterred and the truth will surface.
Fr. Perrault was also a military chaplain and spent time in Canada. For years, he was thought to be living in Bali. According to the Chicago Tribune, he was once considered as a bishop candidate.
