Barbara Meyer was molested by her parish priest starting at the age of 11 and continuing until she was 20 years old. She never talked or even consciously thought about it until the media started reporting the stench of child abuse by priests in 2002. With the help and support of Barbara Blaine and SNAP she started dealing with the abuse’s crippling effects. She successfully sued the Archdiocese of Chicago.
After 30 years of working as a social worker with mainly with older adults, Barbara left to open a dog grooming shop. She finds working with animals to be a very emotionally safe atmosphere where she has begun healing.
