Bishop to challenge US child porn laws; SNAP responds

Just when you think Kansas City Catholic officials can’t get any worse, now Bishop Robert Finn has indicated that he may try to overturn federal laws banning the production of child pornography.

The revelation came in court filings revealed by the Kansas City Star on Friday.

This proves what we in SNAP learned long ago - in their desperate maneuvering and posturing to protect the boss, church officials and lawyers will do virtually anything they can, irrespective of morality.

The church hierarchy’s goal, we suspect, is to try and scare Jackson County prosecutors with the threat “If you’re hard on Bishop Finn, we’ll fight tooth and nail, even challenging the constitutionality of America’s child porn laws.”

Shame on Finn and his colleagues. We call on America's bishops to denounce this callous hardball legal stratagem and we call on Finn to withdraw it.
